Hooking Up Your Toad To Your Motorhome Once you have obtained the proper pieces to safely tow your vehicle behind your motorhome, the next step is to know the right way to hook up and attach all the pieces. First, you need to attach the tow bar pieces to the baseplate of your vehicle. They are held in place with pins and clasps, but I also add padlocks on each adapter.
That way, I have better peace of mind that they will stay in place even if one of the pins should happen to come loose. Next, the tow bar itself is positioned over the adapters and then attached to the adapters using padlocks or pins. Obviously, you need enough room to get the toad behind the motorhome and relatively straight.
Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet.

Just like a fuse, MCBs sit in the live feed to prevent excessive electrical current being drawn. However, whereas excess electricity in a fuse makes a fuse wire melt, an MCB switch will trip i. To make the circuit live again, all you have to do is flick the switch back. Trying to draw more will trip out the supply. Although MCBs and fuses provide a degree of electrical protection, there are still hazardous circumstances against which MCBs cannot protect.
Provided that the leak is small, the amount of electricity being drawn through the MCB will be within its limits. However, the leak could cause heat to build up, with the risk of fire.

Click here to list your business on this page Driving Your RV Good Roads-Depending on the route you select the roads in Mexico run the gamut from modern four-lane highways to very narrow, windy two lane roads. Roads are frequently repaved and the edges are not graded so that it is a smooth maneuver onto the shoulder so Roads are not particularly well lit and at times you may encounter road construction, agricultural equipment or farm animals with no tail lights on the road.
The chance that you may have to stop quickly, even during daylight is very high. So it is best to travel during the day when visibility is best.
Additionally, know where the RV electrical panels are in your motorhome. If something’s not powering up as it should, first look to see if a circuit is tripped or if a fuse is blown. You can usually see if a fuse is blown, but sometimes you can’t.
Mark Polk At the end of your camping season you drain the water system, winterize the RV and put it in storage for the winter. There is still moisture in the water system. Just imagine what can grow in that moist tank and in the water lines while it sits for three or four months. This is the water tank that you drink from and the water you use to wash dishes and take showers with. We cannot assume that it will stay safe and fresh like the water system in our home.
Contaminated water is extremely dangerous. We hook up to city water, well water, and eventually contaminated water. Well that can be true anywhere. The water coming out of the faucet was cloudy and had small particles suspended in it. There are no guarantees that any water is completely safe for us to drink, but if we take certain precautions we can keep our RV water system safe to use. So where do we start? First of all you should always use a white non-toxic drinking hose.
Hoses not labeled safe for drinking contribute to lead and other dangerous chemicals getting in the water.

Mains Hook-up Cable Considerations. The quality and condition of the mains EHU affects how things work in the vehicle. This EHU lead was from my own van, everything worked fine except the Water never got Hot on v, it got warm, so the element was clearly working, just never got above tepid. On Gas the water heated up to full temperature. The charger ran the lights and charged the battery, the Television worked perfectly on v and our Volt Meter inside the van showed v at the 13amp sockets.
I cut the cable back to sound Copper and fitted a new Blue Socket and the Water Heater worked perfectly.
